Airports
Constructing projects at commercial, military and private airfields.
Award-Winning Projects of All Sizes
IHC has constructed over 100 PCCP airfield projects in the last 20 years that have included work for 20+ separate airport authorities, military agencies or private fixed base operators totaling over $1 billion. Our projects have ranged in size from less than $1 million to greater than $100 million. We have won numerous local and national awards, including American Concrete Pavement Association awards for the "Best PCC Pavement Constructed in the USA" in Military/Commercial and General Aviation categories.
Airport Projects
Municipal Streets & Intersections (<30k SY), 2018, CO/WY ACPA
Allium Street is a limited access service road allowing vehicle traffic entrance to the east side of the airfield at Denver International Airport (DEN). These roads are critical for airfield maintenance, fire fighting, and construction vehicles. The existing asphalt was badly deteriorated, and the area adjacent to Taxiway EC was out of FAA compliance. This project replaced the failed pavement and corrected the transverse grade issues.
Concrete Pavement Restoration (CPR), 2018, CO/WY ACPA
Located on the west side of the Denver International Airport (DEN) Concourses, Taxiways F and G provide access to all west side Runways. During winter months, they also provide access to critical Deice Pads.
Lucas Drive’s half mile stretches between Middlebelt Road and East Service Drive at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport. The high daily wear and tear from serving rental car traffic had seriously deteriorated the pavement.
Denver International Airport has implemented a program to repair the pavement around the gates. Over 20 years of use has resulted in deteriorated pavements and outdated fuel distribution and drainage systems. The GARDI SE project rehabilitated B gates 42, 44, 46, 48, 50, 52, 56, 58 and 60.
The addition of gates B13 and B14 at Denver International Airport (DEN) included demolition of the existing pavements and construction of new pavement for aircraft parking with extension of the taxiway along the south side of Concourse B. Swinerton Construction was the prime contractor for the building construction and subcontracted the civil work to IHC.
Commercial Service & Military Airports Award, 2017 OK/AR ACPA
Established in 1941 as a pilot training center, Vance Air Force Base supports approximately 70,000 aircraft operations each year. Currently home to the 71st Flying Training Wing, Vance’s airfield pavements have endured a patchwork of diverse development through the years making it clear that major reconstruction was required.
