Project Details
Schedule & Complexity The work for this project included concrete and hot bituminous paving, bridge rehabilitation, guardrails, grading, seeding, and drainage. The NTP contract date was 10/17/1996 and the project was completed 4/1/1998.
Construction & Innovation
This was the first transportation project in Colorado to use the design-build delivery method, an innovative approach for combining responsibilities for design and construction into a single contract, resulting in a reduced total project delivery time. The project was also the first in the state to use an innovative, full-scale "contractor quality control" program.
Quality The CDOT contractor quality control program succeeded, as evidenced by the contractor receiving $596,000 in quality incentives for the project.
